Hence, the prophets and awliyāʾ Allāh, as the chosen ones of God, are not and have not been exempt from this immutable divine tradition. In Shia doctrine, the prophet Muḥammad and the Ahl al-Bayt are introduced as exceptional models for religious upbringing. For the Shia, the Imam is the exemplary and perfect human being, a model in every respect, and is endowed with infallibility (ʿiṣma) and divine protection. Consequently, by adhering to the conduct of their leaders in similar situations—particularly during trials and hardships—the followers can learn from their Imams and apply these lessons in their own lives, thereby attaining desired perfection. Therefore, the manner in which the guiding Imams faced the afflictions encountered in their lives requires careful analysis and methodological study. This research endeavors to provide an appropriate model for coping with hardships and trials by examining the conduct and method of the eighth Imam in facing personal afflictions and difficulties. The imprisonment of his father and the consequent deprivation of his presence, the disobedience of certain relatives, false accusations—including the pursuit of power and the practice of sorcery and magic—the accusation of bringing ill omen and causing drought, remaining childless until the age of forty, and the imposition of restrictions (ḥaṣr) and lack of freedom of action, were among the personal trials in the life of Imam Riḍā. Finally, the Imam’s strategies for confronting the aforementioned afflictions have been indicated. ابتلائات و آزمایش‌های الهی که به‌مثابۀ روشی تربیتی محسوب می‌شود، از جمله مسائل گریزناپذیر زندگی است. پیامبران و اولیای الهی که برگزیدگان خدای‌اند، از این سنت مسلم الهی برکنار نبوده‌اند و نیستند. در دین مبین اسلام، رسول خدا (ص) به نص قرآن و همچنین اهل بیت (ع) به نص پیامبر (ص)، الگوهایی ویژه در تربیت دینی معرفی شدهاند. «امام» برای شیعیان، انسان نمونه و کامل و از هر منظر، الگو بوده و از عصمت و حمایت الهی برخوردار است. از همین‌رو پیروان در صورت پایبندی به شیوۀ برخورد آن‌ها در موارد مشابه به‌ویژه ابتلائات و گرفتاری‌های فردی، سیاسی و اجتماعی ائمه (ع) می‌توانند از پیشوایان خود درس بگیرند و در زندگی عملی کنند تا به کمال مطلوب نائل آیند. در واقع، شیوۀ برخورد ائمه هدی(ع) با ابتلائاتی که در زندگیشان با آن روبه‌رو شدهاند، نیازمند روش‌شناسی است. تلاش این پژوهش بر آن است تا از رهگذر بررسی سیره و روش امام هشتم (ع) در مواجهه با ابتلائات و مشکلات شخصی، الگوی مناسبی برای مقابله با مشکلات و آزمایش‌ها ارائه دهد. زندانی شدن پدر و محروم شدن از آن، نافرمانی برخی خویشاوندان، دادن نسبت‌های ناروا از جمله قدرت‌طلبی و انجام سحر و جادو، تهمت بدشگونی و پدید آمدن خشکسالی، بچه‌دار نشدن تا پس از 40 سالگی و ایجاد حصر و نبود آزادی عمل، از جمله ابتلائات زندگانی شخصی امام رضا (ع) بود. در پایان به شیوه‌های مواجهه حضرت با ابتلائات مذکور اشاره رفته است.
