Shia thinkers have listed this narrative as one of the difficult and ambiguous narrations, and in explaining its meaning, they have proposed several solutions; but it seems that none of the proposed solutions are acceptable; because some suggested meanings do not match the appearance of the narrative or that some of them cannot match the narrative in terms of meaning. Therefore, one should either look for another solution in explaining the meaning of this narrative or, due to the fact that Muhammad ibn Ubaid who is its narrator, is unknown, and its issuance, at least in the form that is mentioned in the hadith collections narration, should be rejected. در منابع معتبر روایی امامیه، همچون اصول کافی، در ضمن بحث از رؤیت‌پذیری خداوند از امام رضا (علیه‌السلام) روایتی نقل شده است که مضمون آن روایت این است که رؤیت خداوند با ایمان با او، نه در دنیا و نه در آخرت، قابل جمع نیست و ازین‌رو، رؤیت خداوند امکان ندارد. اندیشمندان شیعی این روایت را از روایات صعب و غامض برشمرده‌اند و در تبیین معنای آن راه‌حل‌های متعددی را پیشنهاد کرده‌اند. اما به نظر می‌رسد که هیچ‌یک از راه‌حل های مورد ارائه، قابل پذیرش نیست؛ چرا که برخی از معانی پیشنهادشده یا با ظاهر روایت همخوان نیست و یا آنکه برخی از آنها به‌لحاظ معنا نمی‌توانند مطابق با روایت باشند. بدین‌جهت یا باید در تبیین معنای این روایت به دنبال راه‌حل دیگری بود و یا آنکه به‌جهت ناشناخته بودن محمد بن عبید -که راوی آن است- صدور آن را لااقل به‌شکلی که در منابع روایی آمده است، نفی نمود. http://www.farhangerazavi.ir/article_174902_1986dcbd4adf5709574d16889c2dffec.pdf
